The Ways 2022 World Seniors Snooker Championship

The Ways 2022 World Championship was won by Lee Walker, who beat Jimmy White by 5-4 in the Final.

The event was played at the Crucible theatre from May 4 to May 9, 2022. David Lilley was the defending champion. He lost to Lee in the semi-finals.

Jimmy White, runner-up to Lilley in 2021, came second again, despite arguably playing the best snooker over the course of the event. He got a modicus of consolation by receiving the High Break prize for the 138 he made in frame 2 of his QF match against Rory Mcleod.

This championship had a particularly “diverse” field. For the first time, a female player was involved: Maria Catalano. She is Ronnie O’Sullivan’s cousin and, for many years, came second only to Reanne Evans on the women’s tour.

Africa was represented for the first time. Warl Talaat from Egypt, reached the second round where he lost to a dominant Jimmy White

Ahmed Aly Elsayed became the first player from the USA to compete in the event.

Having lost by 3-0 to Nigel Bond, John Parrott announced his retirement from competitive snooker.
