Darren Morgan officially never won a ranking event, but that’s a bit of a travesty because he won the 1996 Irish Masters beating Steve Davis by 9-8 in the final, and made it to the final again the next year, this time losing by 9-8 to Stephen Hendry. The Irish Masters, at the time wasn’t ranking, but it was a very prestigious event played in the iconic venue of Goffs. Earlier in his career he had reached a ranking final twice: at the 1992 Welsh Open and at the 1993 Asian Open.

After retiring from professional snooker, Darren continued – still continues – to play at a very high level as an amateur, both at national and international level. Since 2007, he has accumulated no less than 25 amateur titles.

Darren was runner-up to Jimmy White in the 2020 World Seniors Championship.
