Seniors World Championship line-up announced

The ROKiT World Seniors Snooker Tour is today pleased to announce the 16 players who will compete in their World Championship from the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

The Event, which will be broadcast once again by the BBC as well as on Zhibo TV in China, will see defending champion Jimmy White line up alongside former World Professional Champions Stephen Hendry, Ken Doherty, John Parrott, Joe Johnson and Dennis Taylor.

Covid 19 restrictions around International travel means that two invited legends, Cliff Thorburn and Tony Drago, as well as Pan American Champion, Bob Chaperon are unable to take up their places.

The Pan American Association (PABSA) have nominated the current WSF Seniors Champion Igor Figueiredo to replace Bob Chaperon, Igor is based in the UK and therefore does not face the same quarantine challenges, he also won a place in the 2019 World Seniors Championship but was unable to fulfil this as he also secured a professional Tour Card that year.

1980 World Champion Cliff Thorburn is replaced in the draw by 1977 UK Champion Patsy Fagan, Patsy has not played at the Crucible since 1985.

Maltese Legend Tony Drago is replaced in the draw by Former World number 2 Tony Knowles, a multiple ranking event winner.

Current World Ranked number 1, and Uk Seniors Champions, Michael Judge is also invited to complete the field.

The top 8 seeds will be randomly drawn to play the bottom 8 seeds, the draw being conducted live during the BETFRED World Professional Championship.

In the event that any player returns a positive COVID test the next highest ranked player Wayne Cooper will be on standby to play.

The event will be played from the 6th to the 9th May.
