The 2017 World Seniors Championship was the first event of the new Seniors Tour organised and promoted by Jason Francis and the only one during the 2016/17 season.
It took place at the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe, England, from 22 to 24 March 2017. The tournament was open to non-tour players only, aged 40 and over on 1 January 2017.
The event was won by Peter Lines, a qualifier, who, in addition to the winner’s cheque also received a place in the qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Professional Snooker Championship in Sheffield.
The event was sponsored by Superstar Online. It was streamed In China and on Facebook.
The referees on duty were Michaela Tabb and Leo Scullion.
There was a 30 seconds shot-clock in operation. Matches going the full distance were decided by a black ball shootout.
